Meet Champ – a proud, stately gentleman, who is currently living in a foster home through Charlie’s Foundation. A 501c3 not-for-profit charitable organization based out of Seattle, WA, Charlie’s Foundation is dedicated to advocating for the welfare and compassionate care of senior dogs.
At 12-13 years young, Champ is not your average senior. He has not slowed down in his golden years like you would think, in fact, Champ still gets the Boxer zoomies! Perfectly content with taking a jaunt around town, Champ will wow you with his leash skills – no leash pulling here! Playing a game of catch is a bit more interactive though, in that Champ will run to the item and then wait for his human to retrieve it. He prefers it to be a team effort! After a long day of play (and naps, of course!), a car ride would be the perfect end to a perfect day. When it comes time to leave the house to run errands and/or once bedtime rolls around, Champ does very well in his crate, too.
Champ is very sweet-tempered and pleased to spend the day snuggling with his favorite humans. He loves people of all characters and ages (including strangers) and animals of all natures! If you have other canine companions, Champ would be a perfect fit for you – he gets along wonderfully with dogs of all ages, shapes & sizes. Dog-savvy kitties are more than welcome, and he is even comfortable around horses, livestock, lambs, goats and chickens!
We hope for Champ to find a family that is patient and understands the typical needs of a senior dog. His foster family has worked with Charlie’s Foundation in regards to Champ’s medical needs. As they are always completely transparent, the organization will discuss any medical bills and treatments with his potential adopters.

Adoption fee?
People are sometimes surprised to find out that most animal shelters have an adoption fee. They might think, “Wait a minute! You got this animal for free so why are you charging me to take it off your hands?” This way of thinking ignores both the costs of housing animals as well as their medical care.
Here are some of the things your adoption fee usually covers:
- Spay/neuter for dogs and cats of age
- Vouchers for spay/neuter for puppies and kittens too young to be altered
- Deworming and parasite medication
- Core vaccines
- Microchipping (at some shelters)
All of these services are recouped in the standard adoption fee, but at a fraction of what you would have to pay most veterinarians. In fact, adopting a pet at a shelter is a net financial gain for most responsible pet parents in terms of the cost of care.
