May the 4th (and the fur) be with you! A long time ago in a pet insurance company far, far away, the pet-loving Resistance discovered some of the most popular Star Wars names among their pet parent customers. Without further ado, here are the results!

MOST POPULAR:

Leia: Sometimes preceded by Princess, sometimes General, but always Leia, the bold leader is the moniker for 427 pets (366 dogs; 61 cats).

Yoda: Wisdom probably meets up with some really cute ears in 216 pets (167 dogs; 49 cats).

Chewbacca: A no-brainer! Of course, Chewy is in the top 3 with 191 pets (181 dogs; 10 cats).

HONORABLE MENTIONS:

  • Kylo and Kylo Ren garnered 131 pets (116 dogs, 15 cats).
  • Vader is (unfortunately?) the name of 127 pets (114 dogs, 13 cats) and “Darth Vader” in all his glory is bestowed upon 7 pets.
  • Wicket has a whopping 67 pets (59 dogs, 8 cats).
  • The properly spelled “Wookiee” has only 10 pets in the Healthy Paws system; however, “Wookie” has 42 pets (38 dogs, 4 cats).
  • Anakin (35 pets), Obi-Wan Kenobi (23), Han Solo (22), Padme (20), and Skywalker (20) are all represented whereas the full Luke Skywalker has 10. A special woof out to Luna Skywalker!
  • Wondering about the rest? Jabba the Hutt got 15, Ewok – 17, Boba Fett –  16, Jyn Erso – 8, BB8 – 7, R2D2 – 5, Jar Jar Binks – 2, and Sith (sans “Lord”) is the name for 1 dog and 1 cat.

OUR FAVORITE UNIQUE NAMES:

Special meows to Obi-Wan Catnobi, Jabba the Fluff, and Jyn Purrso; cats with purrfectly clever names! Also a shout-out to a Corgi named Lando Pawrissian, we salute you!

STAR WARS PET SAFETY:

We’re very happy to report zero claims for light saber, blaster and ray gun injuries this year! Just a few special tips for the year ahead:

  • Remember – do not share your ration bars with your pets (speaking of, you can test your knowledge with what’s poisonous to pets here).
  • If you’re out on a late-night dog walk, read all signs that might indicate you’ve wandered into a carbon freezing room. We’ve had a few complaints that it’s far too easy to do.
  • As much as you may try, Jedi mind tricks typically do not work on pets. Proper training is still necessary.

MAY THE FURS BE WITH YOU!
